Home Learning for Reception

This half term we are focussing on settling in and getting to know each other. Children's well-being will be at the forefront of what we do. As part of getting to know each other we will do activities all about ourselves as part of a 'Marvellous me' topic. Click on the image for the topic web. This is the learning we will be focussing on in class.

Tapestry: https://eylj.org/login/

We will share your children's learning via Tapestry. We will also be sending home learning activities and videos via Tapestry the online learning journey.

Maths

At Hertford Infant and Nursery School we use a mastery approach to teach maths. The wonderful people at Whiterose Maths are putting together activities and challenges for each year group to support families during these uncertain times. Click on the picture to go to their website and see the challenges. Alternatively, there is a booklet linked below with plenty of ideas for maths at home that do not require access to a computer.

Literacy

Bedtime stories are one of the best ways to support your child's literacy skills when starting school. Sharing news about your day is also a great way to get talking. Below is a list of useful links and ideas for reference. Click on the pictures to go to each page.

Talking to your children about race, racism and diversity

The Premier League have started playing football again behind closed doors. Instead of their names "Black Lives Matter" was written across the backs of their shirts. This is to show their support for the anti racist campaign which is taking place in lots of ways across the country and the world. You may have also seen the reports, or even been at the Black Lives Matter protests in Brighton. At Hertford we value the diversity, culture and enthusiasm that everyone brings to our world. It is the job of all of us to make the world a better place and at Hertford we are lucky to have the most amazing children, with the most amazing ideas for our world and their futures.
Your children may see snippets of the news and have questions about race and racism. There are lots of people working hard to provide educators, parents and carers with the tools to do this. Here are some useful links which you can use to talk to your child about these issues:
